Innovation Talk

On Wednesday 16th of September, we had an Enterprise Innovation Talk . A lady came and talk us about thinking out of the box. She was really good at speaking. We were slit in groups and she gave us paper clips to make ideas of what we could do with them. I think it was a very good idea what they did because they made me realize that I can think outside the box and make many things that I wouldn't  imagine. I really enjoyed that talk and it made me time more positive.

Eagles Flight Workshop

On Monday 14 of September was the first workshop we had. We played this game called Gold of the Desert Kings. We were divided in groups of 5 and 6 and we weres supposed to get to the mountains in 28 days and then go back home with all the gold you could get. It souds very easy but it wasn't.
This workshop was a good experience. I think it helped me making new friends and developing my skills to work as a team. I really enjoy the game and i'm looking forward to more workshops like this.

The Camping Trip

Everyone was ready and excited to go to the camping trip and they were nervously waiting to get their Junior Certificate results too. Some were happy about their results and others were crying. The bus came. It was difficult to get our bags to the bus because it was full of bags, sleeping bags, pillows, and other stuff. I sat in the end of the bus and someone opened the window, it was freezing! When we finally made it to the lake the first thing we did was set up the tent. There were 5 of us sharing our tent, Robyn, Natasha, Jackie, Regina and I. I thought it was going to be difficult to set the tent but it wasn’t. Our tent had two rooms Natasha Jackie and Robyn stayed in one and Regina and I in the other. In the middle of the rooms we has a lot of space so that was where we stored our food and bags.

When we finished setting up the tent we made lunch. I ate granola bars and some Pringles. The teachers explained that in  30 minutes we were going to a 6 kilometres walk. Everyone thought that was a long walk , believe me ,we understood how wrong we were the next day! During the walk we saw ships, mountains, lakes and beautiful views. When we came back from the walk I drank lots of water and I ate more granola bars, Oreo cookies, chips and some chocolate. Then I changed my messy clothes I put my pyjamas and a jumper because I was freezing. For dinner we made fajitas. Although I'm Mexican it was the first time I tried them and they were really good. When we finished eating we cleaned up and went to the camp fire where we all sat in a circle and started playing games and we made smores. At 10.30 everyone was so tired so we returned to the tents and we went to sleep.

The next morning voices woke me up, they were the boys that were speaking so loud. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and to put some clothes on. For breakfast we made pancakes with Nutella. They were really good, we made croissants and some tea too. When we finished eating we cleaned everything and packed lunch because we were going to a 22 kilometres walk and we were not going to return  until the afternoon. I walked only 2 hours and I was already tired. When we finally made it to the lake ,we ate our lunch. I ate some oreo cookies, popcorn, nuts and chocolate. I was so full! The walk was probably the longest I’ve ever walked. I didn't like it at all. We got to see beautiful views though. When we came back the girls of my tent and I made dinner, we had sausages and when we cleaned up everything we went to the tent to put on our pyjamas and went to the bonfire with everyone. At the bonfire, we made smores. At 11pm everybody when to sleep.

The last morning all we did was pack and we put down the tent then we ate what we had left of food. I ate granola bars and apples. Then the bus came and took us to the school were our parents were waiting for us.

My expectations of Transition Year

From my year in Ireland I will learn about the Irish culture, like their beliefs. I’ll try new food, learn more of the language and I hope to make new friends.

From the Camping Trip I expect to get to know my classmates better and make new friends. I’ll learn to work as a team and also its going to help to improve my English.

From school, I expect to learn new things, to improve in math, to learn about pottery, and to improve my grammar. I would like to make some friends too.

I think the work experience, I think is going to be great for my future, I will have more practice and I will learn what to do and what not do to. I think for the work place. Also I will have a better idea of what carear I would like to pursue. At the moment I would like to be a dancer.

From new experience I will try hockey because I’ve never played and it will be nice to learn some, and I would like to go to museum and to the zoo.

From the trips I would like to learn of it like for example if we go to museums ill learn about history, i adore history, I think is super interesting and important and we shouldn't loose it.

From improving my english, I think this year is going to be great. Its going to help me a lot in the future maybe at work and if I move to another city where people speak english it would be easier to adapt.

I think improving my english is going to help me a lot in the future maybe at work or if I want to live somewhere that speaks English it would be easier.
